Why You Should Publicly Come Out as Polyamorous

Listen, I know you can't drag people out of the closet and that people are allowed to keep whatever they want private. It is dangerous to out someone without their consent, and there are often severe consequences for coming out, especially in areas with anti-LGBTQIA laws. Even when you live in a relatively safe location, there are always custody issues, family issues, and many other factors to consider. If you are terrified of coming out, please don't feel targeted while reading this. It's an opinion, not a mandate, and you're not less valid in your gender, sexuality, or relationship structure just because you keep it private. I'm only speaking from my own experience here.
That being said, if you're non-monogamous and closeted about it, I think you should come out of the closet if you can. Here's why.
