Please don't watch that polyamorous reality show "Couple to Throuple"

Or if you do, realize it's literally the worst interpretation of modern-day polyamory.

I don’t have to moralize to you about the bullshit of reality dating shows. Don’t worry, I indulge myself — I watch Love is Blind and The Ultimatum: Queer Love. I probably shouldn’t watch these on principle, but admittedly, you get caught up in it. Reality dating shows are like the junk food of television. You know it’s terrible for you and offers nothing of substance, but having a little of that in our lives for pleasure and fun is okay. I get it. I am not the one to tell people what media they should or shouldn’t consume; I don’t think our ethics are derived from such petty things when what we need to live better, more moral lives are profound systemic changes.

But my stomach churned when I heard about Couple to Throuple. This new polyamory reality dating show depicts four couples seeking to “add a third” to their marriage with a group of open-minded singles. They’re all on a resort, of course, and the couples invite the single person to come up with the couple for a few days to “try it out.”

Groan.
