On Sex Work
The Christian perspective, the communist perspective, and the modern feminist perspective: which is “right?”
I don’t think it’s a huge secret that I have an OnlyFans account; in fact, I may be the most well-known person in the progressive Christian/exvangelical/deconstruction to have one… at least one that’s not anonymous. And I don’t have some massive fanbase, so that’s saying something. I believe this fact, along with my polyamory and my blatant communism rather than a more palatable vague liberal set of beliefs, is why I am often denied spaces at Christian festivals, conferences, podcasts, media outlets, etc.
(Or maybe I just suck.)
Originally, it was more of a recipe site. It was labeled Let’s Have a Three Way, capitalized on the fact that I live with two men (even though we three have indeed never had a three way and are not in a triad) but made one recipe three ways: regular, gluten-free, and vegan. I did this to increase my meager income and increase attention toward my work and polyamory in general.
Now, however, it’s mostly smut. And I make more money there — more money than here, by far, much to my chagrin but not to my surprise. Sex work is more profitable than writing. On the subject of sex work, however, you might be surprised I’ve been grappling with this as a gray area — almost as a conviction.
Here’s where I think I’ve landed on the ethics of sex work, and I’d love to hear what y’all think too.
