Dating Again: What I'm Learning in My Current Relationships

On "polysaturation" and how to manage it all.

First of all, I’ve had an influx of new subscribers. Hi! I’m a bisexual, polyamorous mom. My pronouns are she/her. I’m a writer and an editor for a living (yes, I have a day job, but I’ve been able to take it down to part-time), and I just moved into a new home that I hope to turn into a mini-homestead. Only about a scant acre, but better than nothing! I live with my two partners, Daniel (legal spouse of 15 years) and Ty (illegal spouse of 6 years), and my two preteen boys, who do not appear in photos or by name in my public writing. I love yoga, gaming, all kinds of music, all sorts of movies, and all kinds of books, and I consider myself a communist politically.

I was raised in Cleveland, Tennessee, where my family was strongly associated with Lee University (my alma mater and most of my family) and the Church of God, the Pentecostal denomination in which I was raised. My entire family is Republican — as in, they’re actively involved in Republican politics, and many have even made it their career. However, of my family, only a few close blood relatives have cut me off for being a polyamorous commie — including my paternal grandmother, my only surviving grandparent. I believe in calling in, not calling out (see: Loretta J. Ross) and that we must care for the people around us no matter what.

I got married at 20 and had two kids by 25. I started deconstructing around 2012 and was attending a UCC church by 2015. I am an active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ here in my current city (since 2014) of Richmond, VA, and I love that denomination. I also love Richmond, like, a lot.

I write about politics, culture, religious-adjacent media, progressive Christianity, deconstruction, exvangelical issues, and of course, polyamory.
